Company Statement on RoHS Directive (2002/95/EC)
The RoHS (Restriction Of certain Hazardous Substances) directive will require that new electrical & electronic equipment sold within the European Community from 1st July 2006 (Certain exceptions, to be confirmed) must not contain any of the substances listed below, in quantities above the prescribed levels in each homogenous material.
- Cadmium (Cd). 100ppm ( 0.01%)
- Lead (Pb). 1000ppm (0.1%)
- Mercury (Hg). 1000ppm (0.1%)
- Hexavalent Chromium (CrVI). 1000ppm (0.1%)
- Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB). 1000ppm (0.1%)
- Polybrominated Dipheny Ethers (PBDE). 1000ppm (0.1%)
The directive does not apply to spare components for the repair of any electrical and/or electronic equipment sold prior to 1st July 2006.
Certain components supplied by Vanilla Electronics fall under the scope of the RoHS directive & although as a company we do not design or manufacture any products which we sell, we are working closely with our suppliers to ensure that all relevant product conforms to the directive, within the set timescales.
During the coming months Vanilla Electronics will begin extensive identification checks of all products held at our Norfolk storage facility. All potential nonconforming parts will be re-labelled as ‘Non RoHS’. Any product remaining as at the European legislation deadline of 1st July 2006. Will be quarantined & withdrawn from sale.
